DESIGN GRÁFICO DAS CAPAS DE DISCO - UM TOQUE DE NOGUCHI
Vinyl record covers, particularly those in LP format, constitute an important graphic collection of material culture. By incorporating to the primary function of protecting and packaging the musical record, the function of communicating, through graphic and visual elements, the identity of artists and musical genres, record covers have become a fertile ground for the performance of professionals, not always known or recorded by history. This article brings the contribution of self-taught designer Hélcio Mário Noguchi (1938-2001) to Brazilian graphic design through his participation in the album covers project of the 1970s and 1980s, in which he escaped the conventional by applying resources that were available to anyone, but that his creative spirit knew how to use at the right moments, expanding the artistic and graphic horizons of this object.
