ANALYSIS OF IMAGES GENERATED BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR THE NOVEL “THE DOG BARKS IN THE NIGHT”

This study explored the ability of Generative Artificial Intelligence (IAG) to interpret and visualize a literary excerpt from the work “Um Cão barks na noite” as a prompt (command), using the Midjourney tool. The article investigated how IAG text-to-image reframes the literary text by creating images, through sign analysis and the inverse process of image-to-text, realizing the “reading” that Midjourney does of the image generated by AI. It was noted that although the literary excerpt may not follow conventional guidelines for idea prompts, the results presented offer valuable insights into the intersection between technology and literature.

Sergio Arruda de Moura

Possui graduação em Comunicação Social Jornalismo pela Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (1982), graduação em Letras Inglês e Português pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1980), graduação em Letras - Bacharelado Inglês pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1981), mestrado em Letras pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1986) e doutorado em Letras (Ciência da Literatura) pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1992). Atualmente é bolsista cederj- consórcio cecierj da Fundação Centro de Ciências e Educação Superior à Distância do Estado do RJ e professor associado i da Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro. Tem experiência na área de Lingüística, com ênfase em Análise de Discurso, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: discurso, linguagem, análise de discurso, educação e cognição.
